As a promotion for the upcoming film “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs,” Sony Pictures produced the world’s largest meatball with the help of Ritz Carlton hotel executive chef Rainer Zingrebe on August 4th, 2009 in Mexico. In this day of people losing jobs, the H1N1 virus, all the drug issues, Iraq, and rising prices of abouit everything, This is wonderful news. It is a fun thing that took some hard work by some ingenius people. FUN makes the world go round and the largest meatball makes me smile!!!!
AND….that meatball went to feed the hungry in Concord at a local soup kitchen. Thanks for your support!
Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville MI made a meatball that weighed in at 254 on 03/15/2010! The event was completely documented and look to hear from Guiness soon! The meatball was cut and served to various local food pantries and meals on wheels organizations… not to mention the throng of spectators that gathered to see and be a part of history. Well done everyone!!!!
I will be sure to pass this information along to the current world record holder, and if the Guiness World Book does in fact crown you the new record holder, we will have to see about a title defense…..keep us posted please.
We just received the official word from Guinness that our attempt at 254 pounds on 15 March 2010 was accepted. We hope you defend the record and we would like to be there to support this effort if we could coordinate a mutual time for your defense. We had a blast making our Meatball. Thank you for the inspiration to be silly. It was a community effort on our part. GOOD LUCK!!!
